MAIN STAGE OFFERS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

This summer has been touted as Vancouver's summer of concerts. Unfortunately, they all involve a long drive to Vancouver, and the concerts themselves only last for a few hours. So what about a concert that was right here in Maple Ridge, with virtually non-stop performances all day long? That's what the Maple Ridge Fair is offering with its Main Stage this summer. On all three fair days, July 26, 27, and 28, the stage will showcase artists from Ridge-Meadows and from across the lower mainland from early afternoon until late at night.

The entertainment is diverse, ranging from line dancing to country as well as pop and rock, and from professional groups to aspiring artists. Among the featured performers will be Kierah Raymond, a six year old fiddle player, Saving Grace, a trio of young girls aged 10 to 12 who sing country-pop; the Joe Fernandes Band, a group of well seasoned musicians who plan to show the audience what country is meant to sound like; and the Time benders, a professional group who recreate the sights and sounds of more than 30 years of rock 'n roll as they impersonate such stars as Buddy Holly, Elvis, Tom Jones and Aretha Franklin.

With such talent planned to take over the Main Stage, organizers of the fair are not surprised that they have already begun to receive phone calls asking about dates and times of performances. They have even been asked if they have advanced ticket sales. The bad news is they don't. The good news is that no tickets are needed! The entire show is free with the purchase of admission to the fair! This might come as no surprise to those who already know that this year the fair is promising "Big Fun for Little Money". The fun doesn't get much bigger than the main stage.

If this sounds like your type summer concert, visit the Maple Ridge Fair from July 26 to 28. For more information on times or performers, or for general information about the fair, call the Fair office at 604-463-6922.
