"KIDSTUFF"
A FANTASY WORLD FOR KIDS
It's
summer time and school is out. After the novelty of the first
week wears off, parents everywhere begin to wonder what they
can do to occupy their children. Well, this summer, the Maple
Ridge Fair has an answer: the Kidstuff area. For all three
days of the fair, which runs from Friday, July 26th, to Sunday,
July 27th, parents can take their children somewhere that
is fun, educational, and that parents will enjoy as well!
From
10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 12 p.m. until
8 p.m. on Friday, the skating rink of Planet Ice will be transformed
into a fantasy word for kids. There will be crafts, including
cookie decorating and bookmark sewing, puzzles, and games
that will engage children for hours! However, what excites
fair organizers the most about this area of the fair is that
it gives children a chance to learn about agriculture, which
is, after all, the purpose of the fair. Whether learning about
every day agricultural products, or being "Farmer for
a Day", children can have fun without even realizing
they're learning!
One
of the staples of the Kidstuff area that children like most,
however, is the Kidstuff stage. It's here that they can learn
about traffic safety with ICBC's presentation of Major Flapp's
Traffic Safety Show; sing songs from around the world with
Mr. I, Mrs. Sky, and the Rainbow Singers; let Ronald McDonald
and friends entertain them with the McDonalds Show; or just
have silly fun with Michael Ouchi's Balloon Tales. As well,
this year the Maple Ridge Kidstuff stage is proud to present
Science World. On Friday, July the 26th, families can enjoy
the same show that Science World performs in Vancouver, without
any of the drive. With all of the trademark static electricity,
explosions, and distorted mirrors that Science World is famous
for, even parents will be entertained. And who knows, they
might even learn something, too.
As
if the Kidstuff area couldn't get any better, there's just
one more detail that parents will love: Children throughout
Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows have received leaflets through
their elementary schools, allowing them free admission on
the Friday of the fair, as well as one free ride pass so that
they can enjoy their favorite ride at the Midway.
With
all this and more, the Maple Ridge Fair is the perfect place
for families to enjoy themselves this summer. For more information
