Public Education & Awareness

Educational Signage
Interpretive Walks
Public Events
With all these activities going on there have to be ways to get the work of the society out there, and to ensure adequate networking with the City, residents and other stewardship groups. To facilitate this the society in partnership with the City of Coquitlam has created educational signage and kiosk displays throughout the watershed. We also continue to participate with other stewardship and conservation organizations in public events, conferences and workshops. Keeping up with technology, e-mail and of course web-serving have become critical tools for non-profits such as the CWG. Two newsletters are produced, one for local watershed news available spring & fall both as a mail-out and downloadable on the web to give members and the community an update on what is going on with the group. The "Como Watershed News" is accompanied by a four month activity calendar, and reminders of upcoming activities are sent out a week in advance to members. Over 80 individuals and organizations receive the CWN. Another newsletter produced and published by the society is the bi-weekly "Conservation & Ecology News", a virtual hot linked roundtable on environmental issues, discussions and solutions. There are over 250 individuals and organizations who receive this e-mail every two weeks. The society hopes to be able to continue to provide these forums for environmental information and educational exchange for the long-term. To receive either of these publications, please contact us.
