CWG's Native Plant Nursery

Nursery Activities
Native Plant Storage
Colony Farm
In 1997, the society received funding through BC Hydro and the then provincial Urban Salmon Habitat Program to develop, construct and stock a native plant nursery. The site chosen was in conjunction with the newly established Colony Farm Regional Park. This was a good fit as it provided a nearby local venue that was easily accessible and had a secure active use area that could be used for storage as well as education activities. Working with GVRD Parks and the Colony Farm Community Gardens Society, the society designed and constructed the nursery. It was stocked, and continues to be stocked through purchases of native plants from Lower Mainland suppliers made with grant funding, as well as through regular native plant donations made by members and residents in the Tri-City area. If you would like to find out about making a donation of native plants, or would like to get more information on the use of native plants and naturescaping, please contact us or check out some of the websites through the Stewardship and Conservation Links on our home page.
