Welcome to the British Columbia Library Association Information Policy Committee (IPC). This website provides access for the library community to key information policy documents and resources.

The Information Policy Committee offers opportunities to participate in policy debates and mobilize public concern about the:

  • loss of access to government information
  • loss of access to telecommunications networks
  • loss of objective news reporting

Our major activities are:

  • Information Policy Conferences (biennial)
  • Information Rights Week
  • IPC Salons (informal potluck get-togethers featuring a guest speaker)

In a democratic society, free public access to information is a basic human right. Policies must be developed to ensure that community networks, libraries, and other community organizations and individuals are not excluded from the information highway. Make sure that your information rights are not lost in this electronic future.
