Recent News!

Hi, All.

I just would like to – very briefly – confirm that (as planned) we did have our first Watershed Walk. Five people showed up at the south parking lot near the Como Lake at 2 pm. We started our monitoring of the Como Creek at 2:15 at the south side of the lake. We walked to the place where the creek disappears underground and then we drove to where it re-appears around Winslow Avenue. >From that point we descended to the creek bed and we followed it to Austin Avenue. We found a lot of garbage and a lot of invasive vegetation in the creek, but the water appeared clean. We made notes and took pictures. The path was quite rough and we learned about the importance of wearing rubber boots, long sleeves and possibly leather gloves. We also realized that without a help of a small “army” of volunteers it will take a really long time to clean the creek up properly.

I will provide a more detailed report of this event at our next regularly scheduled meeting.

Regards,

Tomasz
