Designing
the EcoCafe-
the Integrated Design Process
The design of our building has been one of the
main focuses of the EcoCafe Society over the last
year. Using the Integrated Design Process, we
have been working on making our ideas reality.
The strength of this process is the input of many
industry leaders, who add their specialized leading-edge
technologies together to form a "technology
cluster". This Core Team has designed a working
schematic (see right). This process has also included
developing valued relationships with capital funders
and program funders.

Community partnerships
EcoCafe has built strong alliances with other
organizations in our community, sharing knowledge,
skills and energy. In the past couple of years,
we have been working closely with groups like
Farm Folk City Folk, South East False Creek, collective
echoes, Environmental Youth Alliance and EcoDesign
Resource Society.

Pilot Projects
We have organized pilot projects to support our
long-term vision, which includes community involvement
and education. We have delivered lectures such
as the EcoPhilosophy Cafe series and the
Build Green Build Healthy Seminar. We created
the BCIT EcoFair center-piece display,
and spoke to the public about healthy home building.
We started a Seedling Program to propagate
and sell organic bedding plants to local gardeners.

|
We produced publications such as the ActLocally
Calendar to keep the community involved and
updated. Partnering with collective echoes
and with the permission from the Parks board,
we created a wonderful native garden and sculpture
next to the future EcoCafe building site.
Next Steps
We are in a very exciting phase which will include
completing the design of our building, revising
our business plan, receiving building permits
and constructing the facilities. If you would
like more information on how to get involved or
become an investment partner, please contact us
