To welcome in the New Year here is a review of last years highlights and what to look forward to in the year to come:

We started off last year with a relocation to a new shared office, with the Arthritis Society of Langley, within the Langley Seniors Resource Centre.  This has been a pleasant experience.

We assisted, two wheelchair
basketball players with their quest for Gold at the Canada Winter Games.

We purchased several pieces of equipment, such as bath lifts, bathing chair and stimulator for our equipment loan program, that are now on loan to individuals & organizations.

We assisted Langley Hospice Society to wheelchair access their washroom at Hospice House.

We assisted in the purchase of a second hand van for one of our young clients, Jesse, to enable him to get to the therapy he greatly required on an on going basis.

We purchased two pool wheelchairs for the newly opened Walnut Grove Aquatic Centre.
 

We participated in the Langley Health Fair at Willowbrook Mall.

We participated in the Flea Market @ the Seniors Resource Centre.

Through out the year our Used Equipment Registry has continued to be very active.

Over the course of 1999 The Regional Disabled Persons Association has been an advocate for :
- the new access ramp at the strip mall
at 200th & Langley By-Pass.
- we petitioned against the closure of G.F. Strong.
- we have advocated to the B.C. Human Rights Commission for fines to those inappropriately using handicapped parking stalls.

A Big THANK YOU to the volunteers that have helped our organization through the past year; Bonnie, Bill, Doug and Dennis with Bingo, Doraine with the Equipment Registry, all those that helped with the Obstacal Course, Health Fair and Flea Market and of course our volunteer Board Members.
