Ted Yates on CHOO in the 1970s

Hello John:

Great website. Glad you created it. I started [at CHOO] in Sept of 1973 and stayed until the spring of 1974. The owner of the station back then was Justin McCarthy.

I will try to send you a scan of the full page newspaper ad which ran in the local paper back in either late '73 or early '74. We played popular/Top 40 music then before CHOO switched to Country. Our photos appeared with our time slots as follows:

• Mornings with Brian Barker (saw him for the first time in years 2 years ago)

• Mid Days with Bob Bowlan (later owned a station up north)

• Afternoons with Paul Douglas Scott (later worked and taught in the Ktchener/Waterloo area)

• Evenings rock with Ted Yates (36 years later at Oldies 1150 CKOC)

• All-nite with Kevin Kipping (I email him from time to time).

Best regards, Ted Yates - APD/MD/Anncr - Oldies 1150 CKOC

Many thanks to Ted for his memories and his kind words. We certainly look forward to getting a copy of that 1970s CHOO ad for the site!
