CHOO Radio Recollections

An on line scrapbook of images & text for former staff and listeners alike

=================================================================

(ABOVE) A collection of CHOO promotional giveaways from the 1980s. Clearly that's a pen and that's a large badge but the third item might look a bit mysterious until you realise it is a vinyl key holder called a "Key-Sac" with an attached key chain concealed inside.

CHOO Radio Is Now On Facebook

News has reached this site from former CHOO producer and copywriter (1985, 1987-89) Gary McMahon that he has set up a Facebook group for former CHOO staff/employees.

To contribute to our Facebook page you have to join Facebook. It's pretty easy, it is still free, but you do have to set up a profile. You control who can see your info, how much of your info, etc. It can be totally public, totally private, or anywhere in between.

MARCH 2012 UPDATE: Gary tells me Google has arbitrarily changed the status of our CHOO FB page. You now need to join FB to see it. Also - if you were a member of it you may now need to resubscribe to it. If you can't access it, can't find it, email this site and I will forward your request to Gary to sort it out for you. Please be patient!

Gary and I have agreed to work together using his Facebook group and this site in collaboration to promote the recollection of CHOO Radio memories throughout cyber-space. Thanks to Gary for his good work setting up the Facebook site.

CHOO Radio On Air Lineup 1979-1981

I'm trying to put together the full on air lineup during my days at CHOO. I appreciate there were often many confusing changes, especially on weekends. If you can help me fill in the missing pieces I'd appreciate it. Eventually I want to list all the on air talent throughout all the years... but I have to start somewhere. Apologies to anyone I have temporarily forgotten and for errors or any spelling mistakes which I will correct as soon as you tell me about them! Send me your era's lineups too. So, what's next for this site?

That's pretty much up to you.

If you've got this far, chances are you once worked at CHOO or were a listener. Somewhere in your attic or basement, maybe there's a CHOO-related photo, or old newspaper ad or even some more promotional materials. Please let me know about it. Or perhaps you have a favourite recollection or memory you could jot down in an e mail. Don't worry about spelling and punctuation, I can clean it up for you.

So, what's next for this site?

You tell me.

And thanks for reading this far and sharing some great memories! Come back again in a couple months, you may see some new stuff added by then... Hopefully, some of it YOURS.

Best wishes from "John Richards" (CHOO Radio weekend & holidays "swing" announcer, 1979-1981)
