Some fan awards are granted entirely for fan activities, such as the following:
"Voting for the 2026 FAAn awards (for work done in 2025) is now open.
"The seven award categories are unchanged as follows:

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
"Voting is open to anyone with an interest in fanzines, no memberships or voting fees are required.
"... Anyone wishing to watch the ceremonies in real time will need at least a virtual membership, details at https://corflu.org along with The Incompleat Register 2025, the awards voters' guide and pro forma ballot, which is also available for the asking from the awards administrator, Nic Farey, [email protected]."

The Rotsler Award
was established in 1998 and named for Bill Rotsler (1926-1997), is presented each year for wonder-working with graphic art in amateur publications of the science fiction community. It is sponsored by the Southern California Institute for Fan Interests, carries a $300 honorarium, and is ordinarily announced at Loscon, the Los Angeles science fiction & fantasy convention held over the U.S. Thanksgiving Day weekend each November.
