Three public workshops were hosted by the Salmon River Watershed Management Partnership in early November 2000. A total of 49 people attended these meetings; 35 people were members of the public, the remaining 14 were representatives from the different stakeholder organizations that constitute the SRWMP.

These workshops began with a presentation by the SRWMPs Coordinator on the Salmon River Watershed and its resources, the role and mission of the SRWMP, and the different issues that all stakeholders have to deal with to protect the integrity and health of the watershed (and its community).

By the end of the meeting, members of the public were asked to identify the top most important watershed management issues and rank them from 1 to 6. The results from the 30 forms that were submitted to the Coordinator were as follows:

1) AQUIFER CONTAMINATION AS A RESULT OF LAND USE PRACTICES

2) STORM WATER RUNOFF FROM DEVELOPED UPLAND AREAS AND INTENSIVE AGRICULTURAL USES

4) FLOODING
