CRIME WATCH - PART OF THE SOLUTION!

Observe, Record and Report!

"One evening in February, 'Unit 3' of the Richmond Citizens Crime Watch began patrolling a business complex for suspicious activity. While checking vehicles in the parking lot using the ICBC Stolen Auto Recovery System, Unit 3's laptop sounded a distinct alarm indicating a possible stolen vehicle. The two-person team radioed their discovery to the base operator and took up a safe position to observe at a distance. Local RCMP confirmed the vehicle to be stolen. As they waited for police to arrive, the volunteers observed a single male get into the stolen vehicle and drive away. Maintaining a safe distance, Unit 3 followed the vehicle and constantly reported its position. RCMP members successfully closed in, stopped the vehicle and took the lone male occupant into custody with charges pending! This is a textbook example of citizens and police working together to make their city a safer place to live!"
