Vancouver, B.C.: Dunbar Memorial Parent Participation Preschool (DMPPP), the educational play date for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds, aims to bottle up as much generosity as it can through a bottle drive to benefit children at Vancouver's Canuck Place Children's Hospice, a specialized pediatric care and support facility for children living with life-threatening illnesses. At a place where life's gifts are embraced each day, Canuck Place is a perfect fit for DMPPP's bottle drive. "At DMPPP we have the chance to celebrate the joy and wonderment of our children every day," says head teacher Wendi Davies. "What better way to celebrate our gifts then by giving our time, energy and charity proceeds to a place that every day strives to brighten the lives of sick children and their families." DMPPP will be collecting glass bottles, aluminum cans and other recyclables and turning them into local recycling centers such as Stongs and Shoppers Drug Mart. All proceeds collected from the campaign will be donated to Canuck Place for the betterment of its children and families. The preschool will be collecting bottles until Dec. 7th. "Canuck Place depends on community involvement at all levels to provide the much needed services for our children and families and we are thrilled when children become involved in helping children," said Stephani Samaridis, a development officer at Canuck Place. "We are very grateful for all the support of the Dunbar community and those that are involved in the DMPPP." The bottle drive follows a very successful sock drive DMPPP conducted to benefit a local health support center. The charity initiatives are part of a year-long celebration of giving to commemorate DMPPP's 50th anniversary. About Dunbar Memorial PreschoolDunbar Memorial Preschool (DMP) is a parent participation preschool that has been celebrating play as the cornerstone of children’s early learning for nearly 50 years. At DMP play is paramount because play is an essential part of a child's life: a child grows, learns, communicates, acts and reacts through play. Our carefully crafted, multi-faceted programs emphasize this philosophy, enabling children to explore their first school setting freely and safely in a highly social, engaging and collaborative environment. Backed by a superb location in the Dunbar Community Centre, an unrivalled classroom setting and a stellar teaching staff, DMP is the educational play date for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds.
