Vancouver, B.C.: Dunbar Memorial Parent Participation Preschool (DMPPP), the educational play date for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds, is extending its “learning through play” philosophy to playful four- and five-year-olds interested in learning the game of Blastball. For the 2008 tournament year, DMPPP is sponsoring the Dunbar Little League’s first-ever preschool Blastball team. As a basic introduction to T-Ball, Blastball gives kids the opportunity to hit a spongy ball from a stationary tee, run to the base and stomp on it to make a “honking” sound. It is a great, fun way to strengthen hand-eye coordination and running abilities and to feel the benefits of a community, team spirit. Through its sponsorship, the DLL will be able to provide greatly needed items to the children such as equipment, uniforms and trophies. “As a community-driven preschool, we could not think of a better way to help celebrate our 50th year in the Dunbar community than by sponsoring the children in our local neighborhood,” says Tina Wiebe, DMPPP’s president. “We look forward to seeing DMPPP’s first-ever Blastball team hit the diamond.”
About Dunbar Memorial PreschoolDunbar Memorial Preschool (DMP) is a parent participation preschool that has been celebrating play as the cornerstone of children’s early learning for nearly 50 years. At DMP play is paramount because play is an essential part of a child's life: a child grows, learns, communicates, acts and reacts through play. Our carefully crafted, multi-faceted programs emphasize this philosophy, enabling children to explore their first school setting freely and safely in a highly social, engaging and collaborative environment. Backed by a superb location in the Dunbar Community Centre, an unrivalled classroom setting and a stellar teaching staff, DMP is the educational play date for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds.
