Chinese Search Engines

The following are some of the search engines specifically designed to search for Chinese websites.  Some of the major search engines such as Yahoo! also developed specialized Chinese options.

Yam
As the name suggests Yam Web Navigator is a Taiwan based Internet search engine and is great for searching out web sites related to Taiwan. Supports BIG 5 only.

Sohu Engine
SoHoo is a Chinese search engine based in mainland China and thus is excellent for searching out web sites based in mainland China. The only down side is that it only supports GB code.

Whatsite Search Engine
Whatsite was one of the forefunners in Chinese Internet search and is hence one of the more comprehensive in its searches. Also supports BIG 5 and GB.

Yahoo! Chinese
Another popular Internet search engine also enters the Chinese market. It also supports both BIG 5 and GB code. Although in its early stages, Yahoo's list of Chinese links is growing daily. Also highly recommended. 

Excite Chinese
The Chinese version of Excite search.  It provides search pages in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese encodings, and the search target can be customized to websites of Taiwan, China, Hong Kong or Singapore.
