The Real POWER Workshop Series

Real POWER Youth Society is providing an after school workshop series for girls in grades 8 & 9 in Vancouver High Schools once again this year. The workshop series is offered throughout the school year, with 4 schools offered in the first semester and 4 different schools in the second semester.  Each series runs for 9 weeks and is either extra-curricular or curricular in nature depending on each school's structure.

The cost-free program provides opportunities for girls to try cool activities that they might not otherwise have the chance to do.  We also provide snacks and a safe space where girls can talk, with a group of approachable mentors, about stuff that is important to the group.   Here are some ideas for what we'll be up to:

Group Building

Mask Making
Creative Self Expression

Racism and Poverty Awareness

Body Image and "Weightism"

Active Living

Open Week

Advocacy

Relationships - Parents and Friends

Taking Action

Each session is supervised by at least two qualified facilitators, who have extensive experience in youth organizations and facilitation.  (See contact information).

This is a great opportunity to promote leadership, talk over issues, get volunteer hours and more!  So if you are interested in having the Real POWER Workshop Series in your school contact us. Or, if you're interested in volunteering for the Real Power Workshop Series, click here to find out more.
