Bad press about hackers creates an inacurate representation. There is a definite effort to spin the word "hacker" into a bad person who uses technical expertice for some form of evil. Most news that I read that involved a hacker are of two general forms. One is the hacker that for personal gain devises a way to steal either personal information or such for personal gain. And two is a hacker that developes a means to attack someone or to release some malicious virus or malware to cause harm for no apparent motive.

This can be no farther than the truth about hackers. On contrary it is a delibrate attempt to create fear, anger, hatered and prejudice towards a group of citizens. The fact is that people with the technical knowledge are a threat to authorities and we have been targeted because we know the private agenda. That political private agenda is to censor, control and monitor the internet. This is not a new initiative, it has been an ongoing struggle between technologically aware [hackers] individuals and authorities for years.

The vast majority of hackers are simply people whom love programming and technology. Even though we have the know how to enact mass damage with this knowledge it is not a valid goal. What is the goal is to encourage full disclosure, openness and unbias access to information. The reason this is important is no more obvious than to hackers. I have been inside military and government networks for a long time and what I have seen from the inside is that there is and outrageous abuse of money and power on part of officials. If this is a surprise to you then you are really living in denyal. Open government is the only solution - we have the technology to do so. Officials are paranoid of citizens governing themselves because the abuse would discontinue.

The move to protect the truth from being exposed and from giving citizens the power to make important decisions is what it is all about. And we all know that money is power and information fuels that power. Information wars, hacker wars, cyberwar - these terms all pertain to the same concept. I have observed the evolution of the internet personally. And have been online way way way before the graphical internet. Back then in the text based net, there was only .edu, .gov, .mil, and country codes. All along the evolution of the internet it has been an ongoing power struggle to keep it open and empower the individual.

We "hackers" have been fighting for your freedoms in an information world all along.
