The way this word is used throughout the vast amounts of literature that
Technocracy Inc. has published during the past 90 years gets confusing for
students and historians alike. The word is derived from two Greek words Technos or skill
and Cracy or Government, Technocracy means a government of skill. This is why
the founders chose it as the name of the membership Organization they formed.
At times the word technocracy is used as a short form of the name of the social
design itself Technocracy Technological
Social Design the original official name. To further add to the confusion the
plan was renamed in 2002 to Technocracy Technological Continental Design again
this is simply a later name for what the plan is called there is only one plan
involved. In addition sometimes the word refers to the membership Organization
and neither the plan nor the dictionary meaning of the word!. In this complete presentation of
the plan DFR has tried to mitigate this by including suffixes such as
"Inc." or "the design" and substituting "governance of
skill" for the word technocracy when its used in that context.

Firstly: are you willing to say that amongst 200 million plus
other workers there cannot be found some who would consider your idea of
a `dirty job' to be their idea of an OK job?
Any person who has worked alone for 8 or more hours per day on a less than pleasant job for a poor wage, is quick to say, "no one would ever do this if they had a choice." But just suppose the shift was only 4 hours or 2 hours. Suppose there were several others to help. Suppose the workers who did the `less than fun' jobs got twice the number of days off?
Robots can do much of the really horrid work that cannot be eliminated. Examine these dirty jobs' you will see that they are often the result of someone else taking shortcuts' in a prior stage of the project. Which there will be no need for when the profit motive is no more.

have you never seen a hero, who steps forward pushing all the wimps out of the
way, to do what no one else will.
Proving his superiority? You are thinking from the context of a social system
that functions as though it `hates you.' One in which you do only what you must
do. After you have gone through all the links of this Hypertext presentation will you still
ask this question? I doubt it.
Nope! This plan is NOT just an America--Canada plan. The proposed North
American Technate includes 30 countries; one percent of all humans are
involved. Part of the original presidential directive given to the original
group of scientists known as the “North American Technical
Alliance” located at Columbia University was to see how our continent
compared to the others. At that time it was determined that Europe could not
convert energy at a per capita rate high enough to have a European Technate and
this has not changed.
Only North America can use this design.
Right now there is an organization forming in Sweden to begin an energy survey of Europe to determine if a European Technate can be established. NOTE that this group has NO connection with the North American Technocratic movement
At first, people from outside the North American Technate will be welcomed as
tourists only; the mammoth job of setting up the Technate will most likely
require zero immigration for a short period.
Perhaps you are thinking of commerce rather than trade? The selling of
things to other countries to make a profit will simply not be happening in a
Technate. The entire production will be distributed to the citizens of this
Continent via energy accounting. Without exporting what a
great life style we all can enjoy. Any exporting will be done by the sole
exporter and sole importer namely our government. Our Technate will be
self-sufficient, so the small amount of trade required might be done on a
`barter' basis. Comment.
North Americas withdrawal from international trade both as a buyer and as a
seller may cause some disturbance world wide for a short time.

In this the era of a technologically produced abundance personal ownership of things,
other than ones personal effects, is passé and it is expected that
people will have to conform to this new concept. There is a word for it USUFRUCT
the lifestyle of the future. It is expected that
adapting to not being able to acquire or hold title to anything major
may take a while for some people to get used to.
BTW: Do not assume that anything need be taken away from anyone there would most likely be no need to do that; since our technology can provide any amount of new stuff for the use of those who have nothing. Those who have accumulated a personal abundance can keep their old stuff or get the new stuff instead. There will be no need to bully anyone into giving up anything, when we can simply offer alternatives.
Homes:
Ownership has
been a form of security as long as there are not enough houses to go around
people will feel the need to own one. Yet, if brand new state of the art
ceramic housing was built nearby and offered to people would they choose to
live in, run-down fungus infected, insect ridden, lead piped, wood shanties,
simply because they had paid for them? Not likely.
Once we are operating as a unified continental and switch from financial accounting to energy accounting without financial restrictions mega-projects such as new housing for ALL those who want it become possible. During this time people that are skilled and already working in construction may be required to move about to where they are most needed? This is NOT a plan for controlling anyone’s’ life, but there is much to be done and our populace needs to be directed by qualified engineers for the time being accept this and prosper, or will you carry on as you have been?
Yoo Hoo! China is now building state of the art brand new mega-cities that accommodate tens of millions of people and we sill live in haphazard sprawling slums. How is this possible? Well in China the people are told what they will work at and where. How long, we wonder, will North Americans cling to their illusionary concept of freedom? Wake up people you are NOT free here you are enslaved by the need to get money; soon the Technocratic social design will set you free and provide new cities for you to live in. So just let it happen!
Firstlly this method of social operation removes the mechanisms which can lead
to the existence of a dictatorship and a corporate driven police state. So
forget about that!
After a short time we expect that self disciplined, informed people living in a situation of abundance will need no one to order them about.
NB: This plan provides for no leader that people can follow! Of course there would be competent technical people in charge of the technology but they would have no say in directing the lives’ the citizens.
The best usage of the land will be determined by land
use specialists, those who have a use other than the optimum one in mind would
be passively encouraged to do it elsewhere. A Technate is BIG and designed so
as to not `run down,' so there would be no dire need to force people to
conform. People do not live forever, after their demise from old age the proper
use can then be made of the land.

Once our Continental infrastructure is in place there will no doubt be enough
people to do what needs to be done without obliging anyone to work. More of a
concern will be of those who DO want to work. In the year 2000 there were
around 100 million people who did work that did not involve getting paid (on a
volunteer basis) since it
is nice to be doing something. Once established our social mechanism will operate
with a minimum of human toil. During the time needed to build our continental
infrastructure the same people who are doing things now would continue to do
them provided that they wanted to and had an acceptable level of
skill. Many people work at their jobs simply to get money and when getting
money to get stuff is no longer required these people will likely quit their
jobs and many businesses will simply shut down. Just think about this no more
grouchy clerks who are ignorant about or disinterested in what they handle.
BTW: no need to be concerned about being unable to make and distribute handcrafts or operate a small store, restaurant, et cetera, if that is what you want to do no one who is truly happy at what they do need be forced to quit doing it consumers will as always choose where they want to get stuff some will like to shop at a small store run by a happy person and some will want to go to the mega all in one outlets run by happy people. Just think about it, without the financial interference control mechanism (no need to get money first)citizens can, well do what makes them happy. Yup, we think that those who decline any type of work will be quite happy.

A Technate is a geographical area Continental in
scope, which must be self-contained so as far as resources and energy sources.
It does NOT use any form of financial accounting (money) but rather uses energy
accounting. It is a place where people live happily with job replacing
technology. They do not need a job to get some `spend able' energy credits.
VIA Energy Accounting thusly, the cost of goods will be stated in terms of how manyenergy units were used to make the item and this cost would (for most intents and purposes) never rise or fall. The available net energy units allocated to people are deposited automatically into their own accounts as energy credits for them to `spend.' There would be no tokens (cash) rather like a using a debit card that always worked.
BTW, Note the effect of this, people will thereby direct the functional part of our government as to what to make and do next. In a Technate the collective will of its citizens RULE not someone who’s thing is bossing others around. The mechanism will be the citizens usage of energy credits via energy accounting. To put it another way; everyone’s vote takes place at the till.
Those
who become aware of the scale of our ability to produce goods on this Continent
via our installed technology soon realize that their allocated `share' would be
(without extreme waste) impossible to spend within the two year operational
cycle of the Technate.
Those who put together this plan deny that an either or approach is required. This plan is intended_ to allow the individual citizen the widest possible latitude to direct their own life. The scientists who put it together state that the removal of the barriers which have existed to this type of freedom throughout all of mankind’s history is now possible due to the advent of technology and its attendant abundance of that which we all need to live. It is expected that a stable society as a whole will result.
With this in mind those who have a fear and loathing of centralized government caused by their experiences with its current embryonic price system form need not reject out of hand investigation of this plan. Those who's minds are completely closed on this topic will no doubt remain opponents of this plan without ever having known what it is that they opposed. This plan is truly based upon control of things NOT people.
NB. Those who refuse to be rational CAN be left alone to`do their thing,' and I mean alone, peer pressure would soon replace police pressure in a society where people are really free. Think about it for a moment, whereas no amount of brutality from a cop can make some of us change, the approval or disapproval of those we admire and care for will cause any and all of us to change. This science based plan is a thing of great beauty!

As to capital punishment, that will be left up to the citizenry of the time
when the plan is used. The scientists who designed this plan were not so
presumptuous as to dictate how the people of tomorrow might handle their social
problems. When all of us can have equal though not identical access to goods
and services there will be less crime. These days some 90% of crimes are crimes
against property, So
there will be a reduction in crime tout a small fraction of what exists today.
That fraction will fall into the field of pathology (illness). The reduction
will NOT be due to any change inhuman nature, or oppression by brutal police,
but to the absence of objects of value' since everyone has equal access to
goods Since
no one would be using cash the element of a chance to win, or the risk to lose,
disappears! As long as we use money which can be gotten by any means it will
result in people being rewarded for harming others. Switching to energy
accounting removes the possibility of being rewarded for bad behavior. A
Judiciary as it is known now has been left out of the design because as history
has shown it is not functional governance. Specially trained experts, who are
objective and dispassionate, could do this job after receiving a good education
minus inculcation, brainwashing, propaganda, et cetera. There are no laws,
contracts, judiciaries, democratic spheres, lawyers, courts, judges, et cetera
in the design for good reason. They are all belief things and are not
functional governance and are therefore subject to special interest capture and
control antithetical to a Technate.

This is science in the social field if you see the label technocracy on something that does not
seem scientific then it is most likely not part of this.

Beware of imitators:
There are discussion lists / blogs where those who have heard rumors of the
plan but have not investigated the plan get together and trash Technocracy as a
pastime, these are Yech-no-crats whose brains have been washed so often that
they have shrunk. There are detractors who seek to misinform people about
Technocracy, these tekno-Rats are quite clever in posing as Technocrats they
join in blogs / discussion groups and flame away hoping to drive interested
people off. These professional tekno-Rats can easily be identified as they
often make personal attacks upon the character and credibility of the webmaster,
also they often lie about the validity of content on the web sites maintained
by genuine, dedicated, well trained members and ex-members of Technocracy Inc.
The list of "nothing to do with this plan" websites grows every month. BTW: This plan for social re-design is applicable to North America only and the Organization of Technocracy Inc. has no affiliation with any other group in Europe or elsewhere. It would be best to use only the five sites listed here.

A Technate could be regarded as a stage in the evolution of human social systems.
Even now we are all part of the first ever top down revolution
In the past social changes or revolutions, as non-Technocrats use the term, were bottom--up revolutions often beginning with the grassroots people; however that way requires a single culture which changes its minds then gets the rulers to make some changes. North America has not had time to develop its own culture, and under a price system will never form a culture of its own due in no small part to the astounding number of people from other continents arriving here, establishing their own dynasties then re-creating the same culture that they moved away from. (Addenda 2005: here in Canada over the past decade the population has been increased 10% from immigration!) Immigrants are being accommodated in every way and if this continues they may soon carry enough voting power to rule (in most elections the government is elected by less than 25% of the people). We note that free speech is no longer a part of life for Canadians as any mention of such facts is put down as coming from someone who is prejudiced here in Canada the telling of some jokes can resulting the teller being arrested it the joke is deemed to be “racist.”
As far as would usage of this plan ever be allowed goes I will point out that those in control are instituting many of the features of this plan right now and have been doing so for years and that still other features will soon be adopted although the change to energy accounting is not included in any of the plans of the power elite groups working towards a continental method of operation and so the energy accounting aspect of the design may well come as the result of pressure from the grassroots people. Although this may be ideal it is not likely. As to when this plan will be used?
Once again social scientists who study social trends point out that a method of social operation along the lines of this plan will most likely not happen because it is desirable, but because it is necessary. Until this is done our Continent will remain a hodge-podge of special interest groups at odds with each other. With nerves on edge fearing the horrors of ethnic cleansing will someday happen right in our own back yard!
Yes, as it is
based upon social trends. It is correct to say that it was not valid until 2010
as we did not have the installed technology to make this plan work. The study
and understanding of trends has several advantages over other approaches to
being aware of the world about one. Most notable is the ease of monitoring
society. Once the original research is done one need only check periodically to
see if the events upon which the establishment of the trend was based are still
taking place. This allows us comprehensive and current knowledge of what is
happening in our society.
No absolutely not. Although current price
system projects such as, the North American Union, the Security and Prosperity
Partnership of North America, and the North American Free Trade
Association programs do involve removal of national borders, using common
currency, and other similarities to features of this
plan there is no connection between the organization that devised this plan
and any of these groups.

of Washington state proceeded all but one of these groups by at least 60 years
and has never formed any affiliations with any other groups so do not reject
this plan because of your condemnation of any other groups plans. Nor does this
plan have anything to do with any New World Order.

There could be much said of various so-called different economic theories,
supplied by establishment institutions but in application they ALL deal in
evaluation and therefore are declared inapplicable due to the use of technology
and mass production, which tends to destroy value.
Values and Marx
The disappearance
of values in tangible objects with an advancing technology approaching full
automation is a functional factor NOT anticipated by Marxian theory of work
values, nor by any other social philosophy. The disappearance of value automatically
invalidates ALL social philosophies as potential solutions to our social
problems. Communism, socialism, capitalism, all of the choices you were given
in the establishment high-schools are all belief
systems. The real reason why the USSR failed first is that people stopped
believing in it first.
This plan for social
re-design is not a belief system! It is a method of social operation predicted
by the first major work of science in the social field.
