Walter Cronkite on World Democratic Government

This video of Walter Cronkite's speech upon acceptance of the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award in October, 1999 is excellent for introducing new members to the concepts of world federalism.

The video is short - about 20 minutes in length.

It concentrates on the bigger World Federalist vision of a world governed by law. To quote Cronkite:
"Within the next few years we must change the basic structure of our global community from the present anarchic system of war and ever more destructive weaponry to a new system governed by a democratic U.N. federation."

Cronkite has long been associated with the World Federalist Movement, and so we hear personal anecdotes as well as the wit and humor of this professional speaker.

Special guests paying tribute to Walter Cronkite, including Hilary Clinton and the actor Michael Douglas, will also impress the audience.

A transcript of the speech is available on-line, although the original delivery is worth seeing on the tape.

Finally, the video is inexpensive and available from Citizens for Global Solutions, formerly the World Federalist Association.
