"604 Connect!"

To install computers, configure for Internet connection, troubleshoot and provide training to Lower Mainland non-profit groups. Installations will occur during the remainder of 1999.

$25/hour (Contract)

"604 Connect!" will provide a training, hardware and connectivity package for voluntary sector groups in the Lower Mainland to support their use of the Internet to meet their goals.

Duties:

• Pick up and deliver refurbished computers to community groups
• Set up, test and troubleshoot new and refurbished computers
• Configure and test Internet connection
• Deliver tailored on-site Internet training to groups
• Work with a volunteer assistant
• Provide groups with help to resolve their Internet problems
• Answer questions about program, VCN services and Internet
• Record and report on installations and training delivered

Qualifications:

• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Experience in Internet training or tutoring with adult beginners
• Ability to help and support new users with the Internet
• Value and respect for diversity and equality
• Thorough working knowledge of PC installation, Internet connection and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of VCN goals and services an advantage
• Transportation to deliver computers
