We're hosted by the Vancouver CommunityNet!

The time has come for the Vancouver Dixieland Jazz Society to say farewell.

Our first festival was held on November 5-7 1993 and we have since hosted many festivals and Spring Dixiefests. We could not have accomplished this without the help of our members and many volunteers who served on the Board, worked during the festivals, sponsored bands and raised funds for us. We also appreciate the support we received from the Government of BC. Thanks to all the musicians, many who travelled from afar to entertain us.

We are proud of the success of our Youth Music Program. We provided scholarships to about two hundred students in BC to attend summer jazz camps - Jack Teagarden Jazz Camp, Camp Heebee Jeebies and the spring New York Hot Jazz Camp (virtually). Many of these students have continued with music in their lives. Some have chosen music as their career and are entertaining world-wide, others are involved in community orchestra/bands, giving lessons, in the music business, and attending universities and music schools. Our thanks to all the parents and music teachers for their encouragement. We appreciate the support we received from the Chilliwack Happy Times Jazz Society, White Rock Traditional Jazz Society, Bellingham Traditional Jazz Society, Puget Sound Traditional Jazz Society and to all of you for your involvement.

We leave you with fond memories of the good times we had enjoying Dixieland Jazz.
