Our exciting lineup and sublime setting
are sure to create a memorable
dance experience.

The Callers

Seth Tepfer: Seth, "Atlanta's Dance Magician", is known for his infectious energy, short walk-throughs, and "hash contras". His enthusiasm is contagious, and gets everyone moving, smiling and having a great time. Novices and experienced dancers alike end each dance wanting more.....and more!

Susan Michaels: A perennial favourite with Chehalis dancers, Susan is welcomed back (again) from her home in Sunland, California. Her dry, quirky humour perfectly punctuates her choice of contemporary and traditional dances that always seem to flow "just right". Her quick, no-nonsense teaching style complements dances that are smooth, interesting and work with the music.

The Bands

Avant Gardeners: Funky, homegrown and hot...... the grooves this band carves from a mixture of traditional and original tunes have contributed to the delirium of dancers from coast to coast. Their repetoire ranges from swing through Old Time to Celtic, never missing a beat. They've rightly earned their reputation as one of the premier contra and swing dance bands in the country. The Avant Gardeners are Laura Light (fiddle and vocals), George Paul (piano and accordion), with guests Dave Bartley (KGB, Bag o' Tricks) on guitar and mandolin, and Mark Hellenberg (Groovemongers, Hotpoint Stringband) on percussion.

Zollo: "Music is our oyster!"..... Cathie Whitesides (fiddle), Anita Anderson (piano), Nova Devonie (accordion), and Russell Shumsky (percussion) cook up a delectable stew of ragtime, swing, pop, Balkan and Greek music well spiced with great original tunes. Don't miss this delightful mischief: sometimes quirky, occasionally glorious, always danceable.

Workshops

The weekend schedule is now available.

The Camp

Our mission is to create a friendly dance camp; fun for all. Come immerse yourself in music, dance, workshops and music jams in a beautiful natural setting. You will love our unique contra-focused camp in Canada's beautiful Pacific Southwest.

YMCA Camp Elphinstone is located just east of Gibsons, British Columbia, a scenic 40-minute ferry ride from Vancouver. The camp has 144 acres of quiet parkland with a mile of shoreline and breathtaking views of Gambier Island and the Coast Mountains. You will stay in heated, rustic cabins, share communal bathhouses, and dance in a hall overlooking the water.

For the benefit of allergen sensitive dancers, please avoid the use of scented products.
