VCN Web Space Agreement. (June 1996)

The following is an agreement between ___________________, referred to herein as "the User" and The Vancouver Community Network (VCN), concerning Personal Web Space on the Vancouver CommunityNet. (VCN)

Any user of the VCN wishing to store information on the VCN for viewing over the World Wide Web, whether for reasons of personal interest or in connection with a Special Interest Group (SIG) must sign this Personal Web Space Agreement.

Terms:

The VCN cannot and does not guarantee that the Personal Web Space will be made available to the User indefinitely, and cannot and does not guarantee that Personal Web Space service will be uninterrupted or will meet any requirements of the User. Furtherm ore as the VCN is a shared community resource the VCN reserves the right to remove Personal Web Pages that impose an excessive burden on system resources as determined by the VCN system administrators.

____________________________ has signed the User Agreement (attached) and agrees that all content in the User's Personal Web Space will be governed by the terms of both the User Agreement and this Web Space Agreement. Note that clause 2d disallows use of the VCN for commercial purposes.

____________________________ agrees to bear complete and absolute responsibility for any and all information in his or her Personal Web Space on the VCN. This includes, if applicable, moderated newsgroups moderated by the User in conjunction with a SIG.

____________________________ agrees to indemnify and hold blameless The Vancouver Community Network and to compensate the VCN for any loss, injury or damage, including any legal costs or expenses incurred by the VCN as a result of any breach or alleged breach of the terms of this agreement by the User, or any proceedings brought against the VCN.

____________________________ further agrees that the indemnities herein set forth shall survive any termination of this agreement.

Definitions:

• VCN: Vancouver CommunityNet; the online service run by The Vancouver Community Network, a registered charitable non-profit society.
• SIG: Special interest group; a local Usenet discussion group and Web page hosted by the VCN and run the User, if appropriate.
• Personal Web Space: The hard disk storage space on the Vancouver CommunityNet allocated to the User for the purposes of hosting information available via the World Wide Web. The content of this space is maintained by the User.
• The User: The individual user of the VCN who has signed the November 1997 VCN User Agreement and who requests Personal Web Space on the VCN by signing this form.
• User Agreement: The November 1997 VCN User Agreement signed by every person who has an account on the VCN. (attached)
