Club Information

Club Snow Line: 604-740-3030

The snow line provides information on snow and road conditions in the Tetrahedron. It is updated regularly in winter.  If you have road or snow condition updates to help us out with, please e-mail us. Alternatively, check out commentary on current conditions from other visitors at the SunCoast Central website, and feel free to add your own.

Avalanche Safety Equipment

The club owns 6 sets of transceivers, shovels, and probes, which are rented out to club members at the bargain basement price of $5/day. They can be picked up the night before and must be returned the next day, or you will be charged for an additional day. Pickup is at Alpha Adventures in Roberts Creek.

Note: Alpha is closed on Mondays in winter. Call them at 604-885-8838 or email them to reserve and/or to confirm store hours.

Tetrahedron Provincial Park

The Tetrahedron Outdoor Club built the trails, as well as the four sturdy, 12-person, first-come-first-snooze cabins that lie at a variety of locations throughout the park. To find your way to the trailhead from Hwy 101 in Sechelt, turn right on Wharf Ave, and then turn right on Porpoise Bay Rd. Continue for almost 10 km to Tuwanek, past Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. Just after crossing Gray Creek, turn right on the Gray Creek Logging Road. After 1 km take the left fork (West). Follow the ski signs affixed to trees along the way. You will cross a bridge at about 7 km, and reach the parking lot at 11 km. In summer you can continue about 1 km further to the upper parking lot, but the road is rough. The road is plowed as far as the lower parking area in winter (when possible). 4-WHEEL DRIVE WITH CHAINS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR WINTER TRAVEL ON THIS ROAD.

Cabins with wood-burning stoves are located at Batchelor Lake, Edwards Lake, McNair Lake, and near the summit of Mount Steele. All but the expert trail to Mount Steele are rated as intermediate runs. Bring your skins, as many of the approaches climb the steep-sided, clear-cut hillsides to Gilbert and Edwards Lakes. Trails lead from the cabin at Edwards Lake up to the Mount Steele cabin above or down to the cabin near McNair Lake. A popular loop route runs from the parking lot to Edwards Lake and then returns via the cabin at Bachelor Lake. Dogs are not allowed in the Park (and you’re liable to be fined if caught).

There is a $10/person donation requested for using the cabins overnight. This fee helps towards supplying the firewood and maintaining the cabins. Please pay your fee by either:

ό      mailing in one of the envelopes provided in the cabins or at the parking lot

ό      paying in person at the Shell Station in Wilson Creek (at Field Road near the IGA), or

ό      using the PayPal donation button on our Payment page.

Trail distances and times:

Distances and time are approximate, and will vary with conditions, gear, etc. Know your abilities and plan accordingly. Be aware that the distance markers in the park are not very accurate, and sometimes contradict each other. Winter routes may be shorter if lakes are frozen, but use caution when crossing.
