Welcome to Stoney Creek
"Never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only
thing that ever has." |
Annual General Meeting We’ll
be holding our Annual General Meeting this year on Thursday, September 16th
at 7 p.m. In order to run for office, or to vote in the election of officers,
you have to be an S.C.E.C. member in good standing. That is, you have to have
paid the annual membership fee of $20 during 2010. We’ll be accepting
outstanding membership fees immediately before the meeting. We
hope some of the younger/newer members will choose to run for office.
Positions include Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer, and Secretary, with
Member-at-Large positions for members who have agreed to devote time to
various projects. Anne Berting will be phoning around to find out who would
like to be nominated for the various positions. Historical Committee We’ve
recently begun to face up to the fact that much of our documentation and
field data is held by multiple people and in various formats. The Historical
Committee was set up this spring to gather all our information together,
store it in a more useful format, and eliminate duplications and irrelevant
items. Completion of this task will make the orientation of new members much
simpler. If
you have field data from past years, in hard copy or digital format, please
turn it in (preferably sorted chronologically) at one of our meetings. If
you’re willing to spend a little time helping to integrate it into our
files, you’ll be most welcome. Photographs of special events or activities
(identified and dated) are also welcome. The next meeting of the Historical Committee will be on 18th August at 6 p.m. |
Upcoming
activities
Most
activities are held, or start out, at the Environment Centre, 2730
Beaverbrook Cres., Burnaby (next to Stoney Creek Elementary School). Always
confirm date and time, as sometimes we have to cancel at the last minute.
