Fundraising Drive

We wish to include you in the opportunity to help the frail seniors in our community through financially donating towards the Come Share Senior Support Centre.

Concerns like "Who is taking care of our seniors your grandparent, yourparents?"
"Who is going to be there to help you provide care for your familymembers?"
The answer is Come Share - we have been doing this for the past 26 years.

We are a nonprofit Society providing support for the fragile, isolated seniors and their caregivers in the White Rock/Surrey areas. We are successfully providing support for over 2,200 seniors, with the help of 210 volunteers, through Come Share's services such as Adult Day Programming and Senior Support Services.

We offer

Outreach Programs to frail seniors
Telephone Reassurance Calls and Friendly Visitors
Information and Referral Calls

Currently the Senior Support Services are being provided out of the Elder Health Unit at Peace Arch Hospital; but due to restructuring and relocating of programs within the Health Region, these programs are losing their program space effective June 2004. We intend to move these services to the Come ShareBuilding where we currently provide the Come Share Adult Day Program on the main floor.

We need your help to develop approximately 3100 sq. ft. of space of the lower floor to provide a permanent home for Senior Support Programs and several other Health Care tenants. The lower floor will be named the Come Share Senior Support Centre.

We are actively looking for support from you to help us complete this project. The blueprints and plans are in place and the cost is $250,000.00

Possible tenants who have already expressed an interest in Come Share Seniors Support Center include

Senior Support Services including their newest program Caregiver SupportService which offers training, support and a resource library for caregivers.
Cancer Society Offices
Daily RN foot care/wound care services

Each of these potential tenants is currently responsible for their own overhead costs and will jointly contribute towards the revenue needed to sustain the project beyond its inception. We are contributing $50,000 from our own Society funds in recognition of these programs.

Your contribution towards this development would be enriching for your community. In addition to your contribution being tax deductible, your name will become part of the Come Share Senior Support Centre's Mural Wall as a permanent recognition of your contribution.

We are gathering artist's suggestions appropriate for the art work required to make this a distinguished memento. The mural will be a distinct part of the interior decor and design of the Come Share Senior Support Centre. It will bring an essence of community into our centre.

Our financial strategy is multifaceted, consisting of

approaching all the major Financial Institutions for support. Many of the Financial Institutions' customers are also clients and caregivers in our programs, so they will be helping their customers and community.
submitting applications to various grant and government sources, including Gaming and local Foundations.
individual approaches to community minded citizens and businesses for support.

This is where we are now - we need your commitment. Time is of the essence!

The time frame to achieve success with this project is by June 2004. Our hope and expectation is to engage your support either through material support and/or monetary support for the Come Share Seniors Support Project. The need for funds is urgent and your contribution is needed to successfully complete this project.
