Dear David Cadman, Will Koop and Co-signers:
The Honourable Ujjal Dosanjh, Premier, has asked me to respond to your letter of June 27, 2000, regarding the proposed Melvin Creek/Cayoosh mountain resort project.
An environmental assessment of the project proposal was conducted pursuant to the Environmental Assessment Act. The process encouraged input from members of the public and First Nations, and the project committee considered all input from members of the public and First Nations, and the project committee considered all input in preparing it assessment. The project committee completed its review and, on June 30, 2000, submitted its recommendations to the Minister of Environment, Lands and Parks and the Minister of Employment and Investment, with respect to the sustainability of and the overall advice regarding the project. The report has been filed on the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) Project Registry and the EAO Website. The ministers will consider all relevant issues, including those raised by First Nations and the public, when making their determination with respect to this project. The time limit for the ministers' decision is August 14, 2000.
General information respecting how to access documents generated for the review may be obtained by contacting the EAO Project Registry at (250) 356-7441 or by visiting the EAO Website at http://www.eao.gov.bc.ca.
Sincerely, Dr. Sheila Wynn,
Deputy Minister, Environmental Assessment Office.
