Transitions Through Volunteering

The Transitions Through Volunteering (TTV) program has been designed to provide opportunities for mental health consumers to contribute to and feel a part of their community through volunteering, and to give Richmond agencies and organizations, trained, supported volunteers.


Transitions Through Volunteering is an important resource to the Richmond community. The program provides a variety of volunteer services. Some of the organizations that the TTV participants volunteer for include:

Volunteer Benefits:

share your knowledge receive support in the community match to an appropriate volunteer site participate in Advisory Committee

Agency and Organization Benefits:

steady and reliable source of dependable, screened volunteers with appropriate skills orientation, training, and on-site support for volunteers placed follow-up and support to volunteer coordinators and staff tap into a broader base of volunteers

Entrance Criteria:

Participants must:
  1. be a minimum of 19 years of age
  2. require some support or development in work skills necessary to succeed in a volunteer placement
  3. be willing to commit to six months of volunteering
  4. be willing and suitable to participate in a volunteer setting on a regular basis
  5. honour commitments
  6. show reliability
  7. be motivated to work towards personal rehabilitation and work skill goals
  8. have no active alcohol or drug abuse
  9. have no recent history of significant violence toward self or others
