About the Society of PM Professionals
of Greater Vancouver

After seventeen years of existence, the Society was woundup in November 2017. A motion to terminate the Society was approved at the November 15, 2017 General Meeting. The management of the wind-up was assigned to two trustees who will transfer the remaining funds to charitable, educational ventures and will maintain the website and the records of the Society for a period of three years. This will allow for the confirmation of information related to PDU claims made by PMPs for particpation in Society events.

The minutes of the November 15, 2017 General Meeting can be found on the Governance page. The trust mandate for the Trustees is attached to the minutes.

The Trustees will broadcast notices to those on the Society subscriber list for an event, program, or initiative which is consistent with the principles and aims of the Society.

Founded in the year 2000, The Society was a voluntary, democratic organization of Project Management Professionals (PMPs) in the Greater Vancouver area, who were dedicated to the achievement of their common purposes in the profession through mutual support, co-operation, and collective effort.

The purposes of the Society, acting within its local area, were:

The basic principle which informed all of the activities and actions of the Society was that the peer group of professional practitioners in its community is an authoritative source of knowledge, arbiter of disputes, and judge of ethical professional conduct, in all matters involving the management of projects.

The PMP designation is a credential awarded to qualified individuals by the Project Management Institute , whose international headquarters are in Four Corners, PA, USA.
