Description:
This Association provides counselling and support to people who have survived torture and their families. Anybody tortured at anytime, anywhere qualifies for help. VAST provides a centre in B.C. for those needing specialized services and a treatment and support program for survivors. VAST brochures are available in 13 different languages. VAST adheres to the United Nations definition of torture, which cites international infliction of pain or suffering by public officials. It serves people who have been tortured, as well as family members and relatives of those who have "disappeared". These conditions often result in a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
