At the 97th Annual General Meeting of the BC and Yukon Knights of
Columbus,
a resolution
was passed by the delegates in support of our Canadian
Troops
overseas. At left Sir Knight Duane Simpson a member of Fr.
Brabant
Assembly and St Patrick's Council 7934 in Victoria BC, presenting our
letter of support for our Canadian troops to the Vice Chief of Defence
Staff, Lieutenant-General W.J. Natynczyk. The Chief of the Defence Staff General Hillier was
repatriating a Canadian soldier at the time and was therefore
unavailable for the presentation. Attached is the letter of support
written by State Deputy Dan O'Hara as a result of a resolution made at
our recent State Convention held 25-27 April, 2008.

Dear General Hillier
As the State Deputy (CEO) of the more than 10,200 members and families
of the Knights of Columbus of British Columbia and Yukon, it is my happy
duty to forward to you, this resolution of support duly passed at our
recent AGM 27 April, 2008. To you and our troops we respectfully ask
that you receive this resolution with our sincerest appreciation for all
you are doing for Canadians and those who are unable to defend
themselves. We pray for the safe return of all our troops.
WHEREAS, The men and women of the Canadian Forces are the guardians of
our
freedoms and rights; and
WHEREAS, These men and women are obliged to place themselves in constant
danger; and
WHEREAS, Some pay the ultimate sacrifice that we may continue to enjoy
our
cherished freedoms; therefore be it
RESOLVED, By the British Columbia and Yukon State Council, Knights of
Columbus at the State Convention assembled in Surrey, British Columbia
April
27, 2008, that we offer our thanks and support to the men and women of
the
Canadian Forces as we pray for their safety, the recovery of those
wounded
and injured and the souls of those who have died in the line of duty,
and be

FURTHER RESOLVED that the State Council formally so inform the Chief of
Defence Staff (CDS) of our support to the Canadian Forces for their
sacrifices and the security of our country"
