           Astăvakra Samhită
                      Introduction

F ollowing in the tradition of Monistic Vedanta, The Astavakra Samhita was written perhaps around the fifth or fourth century B.C.E. and so is contemporaneous with Bhagabad Gita, but the only certain thing is that the author is not known. Its value is its simplicity and authority, It was writen at a time when there were no invested interests concerned with control and domination, thus no need for a guru or a philosopher, the Astavakra Samhita states how life and life's purpose is as simple as being yourself , enjoy and care for your surroundings so thus in turn they will care for/with you.

I n our present days there are many books and teachings of philosophies which originated in these ancient words and ideas. Often during the interpretations and translations, succeeding generation's biases and ulterior motives have distorted the original, pure simple thoughts and enlightenments. These can not be learned or understood by being a student of some guru or priest or philosopher, the secrets of such writings are revealed by personal inquiry.
