. . . .
The weak of spirit in hearing
the truth, externally appear composed,
but internally clings to his delusion 18.76Though in the eyes of the world he is active,
the person who has shed action through knowledge
finds no means of doing or saying anything. (*) 18.77Note: (see note 13.3)
For the wise person who is always unchanging and
fearless there is neither darkness nor light
nor destruction, nor anything. 18.78He has no being of his own.
His nature cannot be described.
What is patience to him,
Or discrimination or fearlessness? 18.79In the eyes of the yogi
There is nothing at all.
There is no heaven.
There is no hell.
There is no such thing as liberation in life.
What more is there to say? 18.80Nothing he hopes to win,
Nothing he fears to lose.
His mind is cool and drenched with nectar. 18.81Free from desire,
He neither praises the peaceful
Nor blames the wicked.
The same in joy and sorrow,
He is always happy.
He sees there is nothing to do. 18.82He does not hate the world.
He does not seek the Self.
He is free from joy and sorrow.
He is not alive, nor dead. 18.83He is not attached to his family.
Free from the desire of the senses,
even for the care about his body.
The wise expects nothing,
thus shines. 18.84Contentment ever dwells in the heart
of the wise, who lives on whatever happens
to come, and who wonders about at pleasure,
resting whenever the sun happen to set. 18.85He does not care if the body lives or dies.
He is so firmly set in his own being,
He rises above the round of birth and death. 18.86Blessed is the wise who stand alone,
who moves freely and at pleasure and
whose doubts have been rent asunder. 18.87Glorious is the wise devoid of feelings of " mine "
to whom earth, stone or gold is the same and whom
the knots of whose heart have been severed. 18.88Who can compare with him?
Indifferent to everything,
happy and free.
There is not the least desire in his/her heart. 18.89Who but the desireless one
who knowing does not knows
who seeing does not sees
who speaking not speaks 18.90In his view of things
good and evil have melted away.
A king or a beggar,
Whoever is free from desire shines! 18.91He is utterly without guile.
He has found his way. simplicity itself.
He cares nothing for restraint, or abandon.
He has no interest in determination of truth. 18.92He has no desires.
He rests happily in the Self.
His sorrows are over.
How can anyone tell what he feels inside? 18.93Even in sound sleep not asleep
even in dream not lying
even in waking state not awake
under all conditions is contented. 18.94The man of knowledge
think even devoid of thoughts,
possessed of the organs of sensation
though devoid of senses,
devoid of the sense of ego,
even though possessed of it. 18.95He/she is not happy, nor sad
He/she is not detached, nor bound
He/she is not free, nor seeking freedom.
He/she is neither this. nor that. 18.96Amid distractions, is undistracted.
In meditation, does not meditate.
in foolishness, not a fool.
Knowing everything, yet knows nothing. 18.97Abiding in the Self,
He/she is everywhere the same.
indifferent to action or duty.
Because free from desire,
never worries about what has done
Or has not done. 18.98Blame does not disturb him/her
Nor delighted in praise .
neither rejoices in life,
Nor fears death. 18.99The tranquil-minded is ever calm
Never seeking the solitude of the forest,
Nor running from the crowd.
Always and everywhere,
is one and the same. 18.100Home || Introduction || Contents || I || II || III || IV || V ||
