The Vancouver CommunityNet Technical help.

Do you have difficulty accessing the system or are encountering a problem with downloading files? We have a volunteer-staffed help desk that can answer many of your technical questions.
Before contacting the Help Desk

Please, before sending mail to the help volunteers, check out the online help documentation. Remember, we're all volunteers here! We don't have a large army of paid staff, and the time our volunteers spend answering a question that's already in the help documentation is time taken away from more important questions.

So please read through our online material before sending email. We have a number of different categories of help for our online stuff. To make it even easier we also have a quick search feature that lets you look for specific text in our help material.

Contacting the Help Desk

If you've got to this point then you've checked out our online documentation and are totally certain that your question is not answered there or in either FAQ. If so, you may have a technical question that needs to be sent to the Help Desk volunteer crew.

Please fill out this form, specifying - in as much detail as possible - the nature of your problem. Remember that detail is crucial. Simply supplying us with a very general comment like "News won't work!" doesn't give us enough to go on, and makes answering questions quite difficult. So please try to be very detailed in your question.

If you supply an email address then one of our volunteers will get back to you as soon as possible.

(make sure your email address is correct - it's the only way we have to get back to you! If you're a guest user on our system you won't have an email address, so calling our office at (604) 257-3811 is probably a better idea.)

Please provide a detailed description of your problem, the computer hardware and software you use and any other details you think are appropriate. Please be as specific as you can, and please be sure to press <return> or <enter> at the end of each line.
