Who We Are

The Vancouver Fruit Tree Project is about neighbours getting together to harvest fruit growing in our community, to share knowledge and skills learned from our parents and grandparents, and to share fruit with those in need. Through this project we are making connections with other people in our community, working together to achieve a common goal, and having fun in the process.

Project volunteers come from all walks of life and all ages: local residents, new Canadians, foreign exchange students, university students, homemakers, professionals, families, single people. They all share a desire to get to know their neighbours, share knowledge and skills, and contribute to a stronger community.

Currently The Project is run by five volunteer board members and a few other helpful individuals. We are in the process of raising funds to cover transportation costs and also to hire a paid coordinator, ideally for this season, but certainly for the 2009 harvest.
