EcoDesign Resource Society - Services & Activities

EDRS provides education, resource and networking opportunities through four main areas of activity:

A Listserve maintained and moderated for EDRS members and the community at large;
Information and Resources provided on a wide range of sustainable design topics;
Special Events hosted throughout the year [See Schedule]
Special Projects undertaken at various times.

LISTSERVE

The EDRS listserve is intended as a means to provide participants with short info-pieces on best practices, new technologies, research, progress in the fields, and events of possible interest. Many posts provide short abstracts of information along with links or contacts for gaining more info. The listserve is also intended to facilitate and enable participants to network with one another, ask questions, provide answers, and engage in discussions on various sustainability-related design topics.

RESOURCES

The Resources area of the site is well under way and is a project of continual evolution. Over time we expect to develop various topic areas such that each includes:

An overview of the role or importance of the topic in eco-design and a brief introduction to the main issues and concerns;
Links to sites which provide general orientation to the area;
Links to portal or Index sites to further detailed information;
Links to special focus sug-topics in the area;
Cases studies, practical examples (by way of links or member contributions); and
Local contact information.

All links to resources will be reviewed and summarized prior to posting to the site so that you have some idea (and assurance) of where you may arrive. Check out what's been done so far!

PROJECTS

EDRS is currently working on a Primer on Green Design for use as a resource tool for schools and as an introduction to green design for the public. (This project was financed in part by a grant from VanCity Environmental Fund.) Stay tuned!

EDRS is also working on obtaining funding for a Vancouver Green Map project for the current year. We hope to have updates on that for you in the near future.
