Welcome
to Cypress Community Garden, an Award-winning grassroots
initiative located along the Arbutus Corridor
in the heart of Kitsilano, Vancouver. Garden
members, along with tending  organic vegetable and flower plots,
initiate garbage clean-up, grass cutting and beautification of the neighbourhood through the creation of a walkable green space
and surrounding public gardens. All work is done by volunteers.
Not
surprisingly, we’re a popular neighbourhood
green space and a favourite for tourists as well
as local urban explorers. We're even slightly famous, having been awarded
the Most Beautiful Community Garden in Vancouver Award in 1999, a joint
award presented through the auspices of the City of Vancouver and the
Vancouver Parks Board. We also (not to boast) helped Vancouver win the
National Communities in Bloom contest, with Vancouver winning over other
urban contenders across Canada.

Thank
you for your interest in Cypress Community Gardens, the garden for the 2012
season is now full. We have completed assigning all available plots. Please
note that we will be starting a new application/Wait list for the 2013
growing season on Nov 1st, 2012. If you applied last year but WERE not
assigned a garden plot, you must re-apply for a plot/Wait list for the 2013
season on Nov 1st, 2012. We are unable to accept applications for 2013
season prior to Nov 1st at 00:00 am. Applications for a garden plot/Wait
list must be made on November 1st at 12:00am( i.e.
starting AT midnight or after) by e-mailing us at cypress@vcn.bc.ca
. (In other words, one cannot apply to the 2013 Wait List before MIDNIGHT ON
November 1st, 2012).
Where are we?
Cypress Community Garden is
found in the Kitsilano neighbourhood along West 6th Avenue in between Cypress
Street and Burrard Street. The garden is easily
accessible by the 7th Avenue and Cypress bicycle routes, or from the #4 and
#7 buses on West 4th, or the #9, #10 or #16 buses on Broadway. Parking is
available along the garden (north) side of 6th Avenue between Burrard and Cypress, or along the south side of 5th
Avenue. Please watch for permit parking signs.
