International Programs
CISV offers very unique and unforgettable international camp and exchange programs for
people aged 11 and up. The overall aim of CISV’s international programs is to bring people
together from around the world to learn about each other’s similarities and to celebrate our
differences. These programs typically occur during the summer season – July and August for
the northern hemisphere and December and January for the southern hemisphere!
Each program is oriented to a specific age group and each has different goals and a unique
program. CISV’s international programs are:
Village – camp for youth aged 11 and Junior Counsellors aged 16-17
Interchange – family-oriented exchange for youth aged 12-15
Summer Camp – camp for youth aged 13-15
Seminar Camp – camp for youth aged 17-18
International Youth Meeting (IYM) – camp/extended meeting for people aged 11 and up
International People’s Project (IPP) – international service project for people aged 19 and up
Although it varies from year to year, CISV Vancouver typically offers each year:
- Three or four Village delegations (up to 16 youth in total)
- Two or three Summer Camp delegations (up to 12 youth in total)
- One Interchange (up to 10 youth)
- One IYM delegation (up to 4 youth)
These programs are announced in November for the following year and applications
are typically due in January. Unfortunately, we often have more candidates than
positions available and there is an application and selection process involved.
Youth applicants must:
- Submit an application form;
- Submit at least two personal references;
- Attend one mini-camp;
- Demonstrate a willingness to participate actively, learn, and cooperate with others;
- Agree to make preparation for the international program a family priority; and
- Participate in a family interview (Interchange program only).
All CISV families are welcome to apply to attend international programmes. Our full selection guidelines may be downloaded here
Please note that financial assistance is available based on family need.
