WIDGEON CANOE & HIKE 2010

This year we offered two dates for this popular adventure. Our first date was less than stellar with rain falling the whole outing. We made the best of it and hoped date number two would give us better conditions. With a forecast of showers for the second outing we moved the outing one day earlier for better weather. Well, we were rewarded with a day of sun, perfect temperature and favorable tidal conditions. The hike to the waterfalls was easy which provided us with enough time to have a relaxing lunch before doing it all in reverse.

MANNING PARK WEEKEND 2010

Our annual trip to Manning was once again very enjoyable with fantastic weather, great company and Manning Parks beautiful scenery. Saturday's weather was warm and sunny with the majority of the group Nordic skiing and three of us snowshoeing the Mt. Frosty trail. Our weary bodies sought relaxation in the hot tub before beginning our potluck dinner of fine cuisine. The sunny, warm weather hung Sunday for our morning Lightening Lake snowshoe before our drive back to the city.

TANGLED SUMMIT HIKE 2009

Located on Eagle Ridge to the east of Buntzen Lake this summit has gone by various names, one of them Mt. Beautiful, but the offical name is Tangled Summit. The weather was great and the trail steep in most places. After passing Swan Falls, a lunch stop by a creek, we finally gained the beautiful views from the summit - commanding views Coquitlam Lake (a prohibited access lake) in particular.

PITT LAKE CANOE WEEKEND 2010

With a smaller group this year we traveled 9 km to the Raven Creek where we set up camp for two nights. On Saturday we did a 12 km day trip across the lake to see the First Nations pictographs, Defrauder Creek's waterfall and the logging era steam-donkey. Our evenings where highlighted with the meteors showers associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. All this happened during a record-breaking hot weekend!
