BandTalk Newsletter


BandTalk is the BCBA's printed 40 page newsletter, mailed to subscribers each winter, spring, and fall. Its content focuses on current issues and historical perspectives relevant to musical interests in community based wind ensembles, bands, and orchestras. It includes commercial advertising by suppliers and service providers in the music industry.

BandTalk is a free benefit to each BCBA member. Extra subscriptions, and non-member subscriptions are available at a cost of $10 for 3 issues paid by cheque payable to:--

Instructions for Authors

BandTalk accepts single or double page essays from members and non-members. Writing should be in an expository style and may include one or two gray scale images. An accompanying reference or bibliography list is appreciated but not mandatory. BandTalk includes the disclaimer that "Opinions expressed in BandTalk do not necessarily reflect those of the British Columbia Band Association."

Prepare your submission using 8˝"x11" (letter) plain paper in portrait orientation with 12 pt Arial font, 15mm left/right/top margins, 25mm bottom margin, and split into two column newspaper layout with a 10mm gap between columns. Imagery should not exceed 400 X 400 pixels, should be at least 150dpi resolution, and should be submitted in bmp, gif, or jpg formats. Images will be printed in grey scale and may be either photographs, cartoons, logos, or text artwork. Do not include headers, footers, page numbering, watermarks, background textures, or borders.

Include a "by-line" stating your name, affiliation (optional) and email address. E.g.: John Doe, Somewhere Concert Band, jdoe@anonymous.org
